December...and also January...and half of February!

Hey friends,

Well. I have a lot to cover, it seems. As such, I think this edition of my blog will be mostly pictures with the appropriate explanations. And I'll get to prayer requests at the end.

1. Dorm Christmas party
The week before the girls went home for break, we got together and had a dorm Christmas party. We celebrated with such games as "Turn your RAs and Dorm Parents into Snow Men and Reindeer" and a Secret Santa gift exchange. There was so much laughter and happiness. It was probably one of the best events of the year.

So much happiness.
Notice the photobomb: My dad came to visit!

Linda's a reindeer!

Balloons stuffed in pantyhose make great antlers.

New mittens!
As the youngest student, Joy put the star on the tree
Twins!

2. Christmas break
I got to go home! And see my family!

The President, an EMT, and a starving author.
4. What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?
One of our spirit days last month was themed "What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?" So we had everything from Disney princesses and EMTs to spies and veterinarians to hobos and crazy cat ladies. I was really proud of all the girls for participating so well, and it was all pretty hilarious.
So a vet, a cat lady, and a hobo walked up to the lunch table...

5. Powder Puff Football
Every Superbowl Sunday, the girls dorms have a football tournament. The fact that 80% of girls here have never even seen a football game is immaterial. We take it pretty seriously. And we won!

6. Forkless Spaghetti Dinner
It has become a tradition that at least once throughout the year, we have an unannounced Forkless Dinner. We served spaghetti, meatballs, salad, and chocolate pudding. Messy? Yes. A little gross? Yes. Hilarious fun? Yes.
Slurp it up!
We should to this every day.

Those are the highlights! (or at least the ones for which I have pictures.) Thanks so much for reading and for praying. Winter months are tricky and unpredictable around here. One day it's beautiful and sunny, and the next day it's gray and spitting freezing rain...but God has been SO good to give us so many sunny days. It's amazing how sunshine lifts the mood in the dorm.
As you pray for us this month, I would ask for energy, joy, and intentionality.
Energy to invest and listen and lead these young women well.
Joy in the days when it seems like nothing goes quite as planned, people are moody, and frustration piles        up. There are plenty of those days. :)
Intentionality to seek out opportunities to know and love and serve ALL the girls. With 21 girls living here, I know how easy it would be for someone to slip through the cracks. So please pray that Jesus gives me his eyes to see all of them. And that he would use me to show his love to them consistently.

Love and prayers to all of you!
Amanda
