Well folks, it's been a whirlwind of a weekend, and it's been too crazy to sit down and actually blog about it. But here are some highlights:
* Meeting the residence life staff.
* Walking through the ACTUAL Black Forest.
* Greeting real live German people in German.
* Meeting the woman who runs the EisCafe (A delightful little gelato shop) who is from the Dominican Republic. i.e. speaks Spanish, i.e. I could talk to her and understand what she was saying! Which is a major win.
* Learning the German words for "hedgehog" (Igel) and "I have a flyswatter!" (Ich habe eine Fliegenklatsche!)
So far all the RAs are staying in one of the dorms together--I'll find out on Thursday what dorm I'll actually be working in. So excited!
Thanks for your prayers!
Enjoy this picture of real authentic German trees in the actual Black Forest (which is quite a bit more green than black, I must say.)

PS: The title of this post means "what is this in German?" and it has become my mantra this week. :)

This is the new RA staff (minus Tara) enjoying the German foliage. |

Always useful to know how to say hedgehog, just in case you see one in the Black Forest!
ReplyDeleteI love that you met someone from the DR... Also, the real authentic German trees are exceptionally green, :)
ReplyDeleteYay! So great! So excited for you (and your new vocabulary)!
ReplyDeleteAww you look so happy. So excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI read "gelato shop" as "Ghetto shop." Different.
